Common Challenges Sellers Encounter When Entering Overseas Amazon Marketplaces
Selling globally on Amazon is not as simple as clicking "Sell Globally" in Seller Central. For most US-based Amazon sellers, expanding into other significant Amazon marketplaces, such as Amazon Canada or the Amazon EU 5 marketplaces, takes careful planning to navigate regulatory red tape and overcome operational challenges.
The VAT & Customs Trap
Having your inventory get stuck at the border due to VAT registration, tax or tariff issues is an operational nightmare.
Compliance Issues
Ignoring European packaging and labeling requirements results in immediately suspended ASINs.
Supply Chain Management
Having a clear plan for you to get your inventory to foreign marketplaces in a timely fashion and without wiping out your profit margins is key.
Amazon Listing and PPC Ads Optimization
You may think that translating your listings and PPC target keywords is good enough - think again.

Our End-to-End Global Amazon Servicesem> for Global Marketplaces
As an Amazon seller agency with experience managing Amazon operations end-to-end, we are well prepared to support at all stages of your global expansion to support your international growth. We can handle (or manage in close cooperation with established partners): compliance, logistics, listing and product localization, and local Amazon PPC advertising. This allows you to seamlessly plug your US FBA business into Amazon Canada or European Amazon marketplaces. Our services consist of:
Compliance & VAT Management
We work with legal firms and tax advisors to ensure your business is 100% compliant before a single unit of inventory crosses a border. We can support:
VAT Registration & Filing: UK and EU VAT registration, securing your EORI numbers and ensuring your Seller Central tax settings are accurately configured.
EPR & WEEE Compliance: We help you navigate the strict European Extended Producer Responsibility laws, including Germany’s LUCID packaging register and EU electronics directives.
Health Canada & Local Approvals: We audit your product catalog for compliance with local consumer packaging and safety regulations.
Logistics & Fulfillment
We take care of supporting the operational aspects of moving your goods to the desired target market and also help optimize your supply chain for better cost efficiency. This includes:
Pan-EU vs. EFN: We analyze your sales velocity to determine exactly when it makes financial sense to upgrade from the European Fulfillment Network to a full Pan-EU strategy, optimizing your local FBA fees.
NARF vs. Local FBA Canada: We balance the ease of North American Remote Fulfillment against the conversion-boosting power of holding local Prime inventory in Canada.
Customs & DDP Shipping: We work with select freight forwarders who understand Amazon's strict Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) requirements, ensuring your inventory clears customs smoothly.
Native Amazon Listing Localization Creation
We work with a network of established Amazon experts with in-market experience and native language skills to create fully Amazon SEO-optimized listings from scratch. No Google Translate or AI hallucinations. This includes:
Local Language Keyword Research: A US shopper searches for a "stroller"; a UK shopper searches for a "pram." We research your products from scratch and identify the high-volume, commercially viable long-tail search terms.
Culture-Aware Copywriting: Users in Western countries usually use blenders to make smoothies, but in Eastern Europe, they are used to prepare soups. We rewrite your Amazon listing titles, bullet points, and backend search terms to match local consumer behavior and product usage scenarios.
A+ Content Adaptation: We ensure your A+ copy and Storefront imagery align with local cultural norms and strictly adhere to regional character limits.
Locally Optimized Amazon PPC Campaigns
In Amazon PPC search, localization is also critical. Understanding which generic keywords are relevant and which sellers and brands are strong competitors in your niche is key to developing PPC strategies that can accelerate your growth at acceptable ACoS levels.
Exploiting Low CPCs: European and Canadian markets often feature lower CPCs than Amazon US. We deploy aggressive launch campaigns to lock down organic BSR quickly and cost effectively.
Algorithmic Bid Management: We don't blindly copy US campaigns. We build localized exact, phrase, and broad match structures for optimum results.
Currency-Adjusted Reporting: We manage your international TACoS in the local currency but report back to you in USD, ensuring exchange rate volatility never masks your true profitability.
We switched to SellerMetrics for Amazon PPC management after 6 months of flat sales. With their help, we are back to growing 5–10% each month while keeping our TACOS below 15%. We have a dedicated account manager, and if we need more help, Rick is always available

FAQ: Amazon International Marketplace Expansion Services
What is the fastest way for a US seller to start selling internationally?
Amazon Canada is typically the path of least resistance. Using the North American Remote Fulfillment (NARF) program, you can test the Canadian market using your existing US FBA inventory without immediately registering for local taxes or handling complex cross-border logistics.
Do I need a separate company to sell in the UK or Europe?
No. You do not need to set up a new European business entity. You can operate using your existing US LLC or Corporation. You will, however, need to register for local VAT (Value Added Tax) numbers in any country where you store physical inventory.
How does VAT work compared to US Sales Tax?
Unlike US sales tax, which is added at the point of sale, European VAT is a consumption tax assessed on the value added to goods. If you store inventory in an EU country or the UK, you must be VAT registered there, collect VAT on your sales, and file regular returns with the local tax authorities. We help facilitate this entire process.
Can I just use the same PPC campaigns I use in the US?
No. This is a primary reason international launches fail. Search intent varies wildly by culture and language. Direct translations of US keywords often have zero search volume overseas. We build completely localized PPC campaigns based on native keyword research.
What is the difference between Pan-EU and EFN in Europe?
The European Fulfillment Network (EFN) allows you to hold inventory in one country (e.g., Germany) and ship across the EU. It requires only one VAT registration but carries higher shipping fees. Pan-European FBA allows Amazon to distribute your inventory across multiple countries for faster, cheaper local delivery, but it requires you to be VAT registered in every country where stock is held.
How do I get product reviews in a new country?
Amazon’s global review syndication will often display your US reviews on your international listings, which provides immediate social proof. However, we also strongly recommend utilizing localized Amazon Vine programs to generate native-language reviews, as these convert local shoppers much more effectively.
How long does it take to launch on Amazon UK or Amazon Germany?
The timeline is largely dictated by tax authorities. UK VAT registration typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, while German VAT can take 6 to 12 weeks. We recommend starting the compliance process at least three months before your target launch date.
